RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop web applications to be used in both intranet and internet environments
• Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications
• Develop or acquire test data and run test to determine the accuracy of program logic to produce desired results; debug and revise programs based on test results. Test programs and systems and integrate system modules
• Use program specifications to prepare the logic sequence of program source statements in the development, modification, documentation, and maintenance of programs
• Monitor performance of programs after implementation
• Review and analyze system specifications to determine whether all required elements have been included. Consults with clients to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements.
• Consult with customers about software system design and maintenance
• Develop and prepare documents for the general design of solutions that meet system and security requirements, including the selection of alternative approaches
• Conduct thorough problem analysis in regard to technical system and application
• programs; documents findings and proposes problem resolution alternatives.
• Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
• Convert and assist in of the implementation of new systems or upgrading existing systems
• Provide technical assistance as required
• Assist in the definition, development, and documentation of business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis
• Advise and work with others to resolve specific problems or make changes in programs, computer applications, capabilities, alternative programming approaches, limitations, etc.
• Mentor those with less experience through informal channels
• Maintain records and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work
• Travel as required
• Perform related work as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Extensive experience with either Cache (M) or ASP.Net (C# or VB.Net)
• Extensive knowledge and experience with healthcare, preferable with professional billing systems and processes
• Knowledge of structured programming methodology
• Knowledge of database design methods and support utilities
• Knowledge of systems development methodology used in the development of new enhancements for existing systems
• Knowledge of application development environments and related tools
• Ability to prepare detailed written instructions and documentation
• Ability to convert specifications to computer language
• Ability to gather and analyze facts, defines problems, and devises solutions
• Ability to communicate technical terminology at a level appropriate to the audience
• Communicate and apply project standards

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Graduation from college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or a related field and four (4) years of experience in programming and systems design OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Proficiency in Cache (M) programming
• 5+ years* experience within the software industry
• Experience with the core applications of the GE Healthcare Centricity Business/IDX Flowcast system
• Experience in systems analysis and/or client needs analysis
• Knowledge of business systems applications

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• Possesses understanding in the areas of application programming, database and system design
• Understands how legacy and web based systems interface with each other.
• Working knowledge of OpenVMS or UNIX, with the ability to write command scripts
• Experience with implementing or maintaining HL7 interfaces
• Ability to build and support applications and / or core product demo systems
